Frequently Asked Questions
Baltimore, MD
My journey into tech began when I decided to pursue my MS in IT. While I was obtaining my degree, I noticed that my current role was not in IT but in a customer service /call center. I knew that in order to obtain a job in the IT field it would take more than just a degree. Between school and my call center job I began teaching myself different coding languages such as Python, building a portfolio to showcase my skills, joined local tech meetup groups such as Baltimore Black Techies (BBT), attended hack-a-thons & conferences and became a facilitator for Girls Who Code-Baltimore Chapter on the weekends. All of these networks and activities acted as a pamphlet/guide to the tech space and from there I was able to develop my own guide to tech and land my first tech job with Geico a Fortune 500 Company as an IT Systems Analyst. From there I moved on to work in my current role as a Systems Engineer at SSA. I have graduated with my MS degree and I am still continuously learning, improving and enhancing my tech skills.
I have a BS in Marketing from Morgan State University and a MS in Applied Information Technology with a Specialization in Security Assurance and Awareness from Towson University.
In my current role at SSA I am apart of the Mainframe Storage Management and System Recovery team where I establish and monitor strategies for managing storage resources. I process end users request for adding, deleting and creating datasets, backup datasets and volumes. I also establish retention requirements for all data resources.
